What is fancy text?
Fancy text uses special Unicode characters — specifically characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400 to U+1D7FF) and Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement — to create text that visually resembles bold, italic, script, or other font styles. Because these are actual Unicode characters (not formatting), they can be pasted anywhere that accepts plain text, including Instagram bios, Twitter/X posts, Discord messages, and WhatsApp.
Available font styles
Bold — heavy weight letters using Mathematical Bold characters. Italic — slanted letters using Mathematical Italic characters. Bold Italic — combines both weight and slant. Script — flowing cursive-style letters using the Mathematical Script block. Double-struck — hollow letters popular in mathematics. Monospace — fixed-width characters similar to code fonts. Fullwidth — wide characters using the Fullwidth Latin block. Strikethrough — text with a horizontal line through each character. Upside Down — flipped characters for a fun effect.
Where to use fancy text
Fancy text is widely used on social media platforms where you cannot change the actual font. Instagram bios, Twitter/X display names, Facebook posts, and TikTok bios all support Unicode characters, allowing you to make your text stand out with different visual styles. It's also used in Discord usernames, gaming names, YouTube channel names, and chat messages for emphasis or decoration.
Limitations
Not all Unicode characters in these ranges are supported by every font. Some characters may display as boxes or question marks on older systems or specific applications. The transforms work best for standard Latin letters (A–Z, a–z). Numbers and punctuation use their standard forms for most styles. Screen readers may not read fancy text correctly, so use it for decorative purposes rather than important information.
